New York’s International Bridal Week has ended for yet another year and, what a week it was, with trends ranging from blush-coloured gowns and peplums galore to dresses replete with ornate hand-sewn detail.
Some of Europe and America’s leading wedding dress designers (and accessory maker) had their wares on display, as did our very own, Essence of Australia.
Held at New York City’s Pier 94 hotel, the show is an industry-only event that, this year, was divided into two portions: an in depth look at premium wedding gown collections from the likes of Heral Bridal, Sophia Tolli and Casablanca Bridal and a Spotlight on Couture show, featuring such designers as Angel Rivera and Caroline Castigliano.
Also on show were bridesmaids’, flower girl and formal dresses galore, as well as footwear and lots of bling.
Vera Wang presented her Fall 2013 bridal collection, a mix of fluffy, flared gowns to slim-fitting, column dresses. She decribed the collection as being a “study in femininity and romance [that] celebrates the wedding gown in a new take on classicism and ornamentation.”
Below are some of our favourite 2012/2013 offerings from designers at the show.
