I met Matt in, of all places, a nightclub. I was working there and, having caught his eye, he waited until the end of the night and pushed past the security guards for my number. I liked him immediately, but, at the time, I had a very complicated relationship with my ex-boyfriend, so Matt and I agreed to remain friends – until fate intervened.
A few weeks later, I was driving home late at night and I felt very dizzy. I got out of my car and realised that it was on fire! A passer-by put it out, but I was a little freaked out and called my boyfriend, but he told me he was too busy.
I didn’t know what to do so I called Matt – and he was there WITHIN 90 SECONDS!
It turned out, I’d pulled over about 10 meters from my local fire station, which happened to be where Matt worked. He’s a fireman, which I loved!
He was great and took care of me, giving me water and checking me for smoke inhalation. He even bought lollies for me!
We went for a walk along the beach and I talked away. Matt listened. He was the first man that actually listened to me. Of course, that was it, and Matt and I began dating.
A year-and-a-half later he proposed in Bali in a gorgeous gazebo surrounded by a waterfall. It was perfect, a true dream proposal.
On September 8, 2012, I’ll be lucky enough to marry my best friend, my hero and my soulmate! It will be the happiest day of my life.
