Name: Amanda and Josh
Location: Newcastle, NSW
Wedding date: October, 2012
On June 8th, 2009, a door-to-door salesman, Josh, knocked at my door enquiring whether I’d like to change my electricity company. After talking to him about how much trouble I was having with my then provider, he signed me up to his company – then he chatted with me for a good hour after the sale.
Just before leaving, he asked for my number. I thought it was just part of his job so I gave it to him thinking I would never hear or see him again and I’m so glad I was wrong!
He called the next day just after lunchtime. He wanted to have dinner – that night – with me! Of course I said ‘yes’. After chatting a while we discovered we lived on the same street – about 100 houses apart – but had never met.
During dinner I thought nothing would come of our ‘date’ because he is four years younger than me, so I assumed we would just stay friends for a bit of fun.
Two years later, we have a nine-month-old son, Levi, and another one is on the way at the end of September, 2011.
Since he knocked on my front door, Josh and I have hardly spent a day apart. He is a great father and stand by my side every day.
On March 19, 2011 – while I was watching a wedding show – he casually asked me whether getting married was something I wanted and, without even waiting for a reply, he bent down on one knee and asked me to spend eternity with him.
I don’t think I’ve ever been happier and we are planning to get married in October 2012.
