Date, theme, budget, dollar signs

I am so look forward to marrying Mehdi and concreting this little family of ours once and for all.

And, let’s be honest, I want my name to match on the Medicare Card, too.

Boy, oh, boy looking at it all and thinking of it all, there is so much involved and, well, it all costs money, money, money!

We cannot justify spending a fortune on our wedding because we have three, well almost three, kids and debt and, well, do I even need to go on?

I’m going to need to take it one step at a time or I may just explode.

So my checklist for today is to work out our:

DATE – February 21st, 2014 is our wedding day. It’s a Friday but, more importantly, it is our 10-year anniversary. What better day to do this than on our 10 year anniversary?

Hopefully by then all the children will be able to walk and, well, it’s a great way to mark 10 years of us.

NEXT…

THEME – Hmmm… I need something that isn’t too expensive, that is very kid friendlyand has great food. Mehdi and I just aren’t sit down three-course type people, so it also has to be something that is suitable for a hot summer’s day. Ohhh, too much choice! I sometimes don’t think it’s going to happen with all these pre-requisites. What venue is going to be this flexible? Wait… maybe we could have a picnic wedding?

That way the kids can run around we can eat good food and summer evenings are great for picnics… perfect. And to help class it up, I’m going to add a few Alice in Wonderland touches to it. Who doesn’t love Disney?

BUDGET – I think I’m kinda crafty and I know people that are crafty so you know what… I can do DIY! Not only can I do it, it can still be classy beautiful and memorable. In fact it may be even more memorable knowing that I created a majority of it and imagine the scars I will make trying to cut, stitch and glue. So it’s decided I am going to do as much of this wedding myself. DIY here I come!

The most important thing for me for the day is that it’s not all Monica, Monica, Monica. It has to be about the five of us.

You know what? I’m going to have the five of us in white. After all, it’s our big day, so why not?

This is going to be interesting to say the least and so much fun. Lucky I have more than a year to plan.
