FOMO. It sucks. We all get it from time to time. But FOMO can feel especially worse when you have to miss an important event such as a 70% off sale or a good friend’s bachelorette party. If you have to miss a Hen’s night, don’t stress, there are plenty of ways to make it up to the bride-to-be and avoid severe FOMO at the same time.
Here are some ways to fight FOMO, (or at least minimise it.)
Avoid FOMO by reversing the FOMO
Well, more like, make your friends miss you too! Prepare something for the Hen’s night that will remind them of you. If it’s in a restaurant, surprise them by pre-ordering a special dessert or cocktails to cap off their evening. (Make sure the restaurant writes down a dedication on the bride’s plate!)
Plan a surprise
If they’re going clubbing for the Hen’s night, organise with the MOH to plan a special surprise from you. It could be a bottle of champagne or even a cheeky performance for the bride-to-be!
Call to wish her a ‘happy Hen’s’
Not attending the Hen’s night doesn’t mean you have to go MIA. Set a time with the Maid of Honour to call the bride and wish her a happy Hen’s night. A simple call shows that you care and you’re interested to know what’s going on and that she is having a good time.
Take a ‘groufie’ over FaceTime
When the bride and her crew have a spare moment, (and a good WiFi connection), call them via Skpe, FaceTime or any other video calling app you prefer. That way you can have a clearer picture of what they’re doing. You can also take that opportunity to take a photo together with everyone!
Make it up to the bride before the wedding
As a sweet gesture, make it up to the bride by treating her to a relaxing afternoon of activities such as a nice lunch, movie/shopping trip or spa day.
Print the photos
Collate all the Facebook and Instagram snaps from the Hen’s night and print them out for the bride-to-be. You can even go a step further and create her a little photo album filled with pictures from the night, (and maybe Photoshop yourself into the photos, if you’re into that kind of thing.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Have a great time yourself
Not physically being there doesn’t mean you’re not celebrating with the bride in spirit. So whatever it is you have to attend to, make sure you have fun doing it!
