Asylum Chapel is a Grade II listed building. The Chapel is licensed by Southwark Council for weddings, civil ceremonies and same sex partnerships.

Asylum Chapel is licensed by Southwark Council for weddings and civil ceremonies. We welcome same sex partnerships.

The chapel is a grade 2 listed building built in 1826 by the Licensed Victualers Benevolent Institution for use by the residents of Caroline Gardens. These residents were made up of retired workers of the alcohol trade. Bombed in WWII, the present use of the chapel is as a flexible space which can be hired for photographic and film shoots, exhibitions, theatre, weddings and funerals. The Chapel is suitable for up to 120 guests.

The Chapel is a ceremony only venue, so you are welcome to have a toast and some canaps after your service but no sit down meal; your full reception would need to be taken offsite.

On the day, the coordinator can oversee many different aspects of your wedding.

This is a location that is not to everyone's taste for a wedding ceremony. But it was perfect for us! Such a lovely space for the occasion and loads of history too, we haven't been to a more atmospheric wedding location.

A really 'different' venue with a lovely atmosphere. Everything went really well as much as a testament to the staff as well as our my organisation.

Unusual venue, very different. Beautiful gardens outside for wedding photos. We dressed the Asylum ourselves in the taste we wanted.
