The Cotswold Ensemble

We are a group of friends who are all professionally-trained musicians, and we love playing as a string quartet. We have been providing music for weddings, receptions, parties, celebrations, and corporate functions since 1988, We know that the atmosphere created by live musicians can make all the difference to a special event.

We are classically-trained, professionally qualified, experienced musicians. We work in orchestras, in schools, as music examiners and arrangers of music. We are do-ers, and so we enjoy getting out and about to play for special occasions. We work in the Cotswolds and Oxford, and we are happy to travel further afield to play.

We play most often as a string quartet (two violinists, one violist, one cellist) because this grouping has the best quality repertoire, from before Bach, to the Beatles, and beyond. Our tango quartet is led by a Buenos Aires trained violin tango specialist. Our violin & cello duos play Baroque, Classical, & 20th century pops at more intimate events and events where space is limited.

Our string quartet repertoire list is extensive with well over 650 items from before Bach to after the Beatles, including classical favourites, classic pops, rag-time, show tunes, folk dances, tangos, and classic dances. If your special tune is not available commercially, we can arrange it for you for a modest fee.
