How long did you take to plan your wedding?
Most Weddings Take More Than a Year to Plan
Just over half of couples take more than one year to plan their wedding according to an Easy Weddings poll. The results of the poll showed that 53% of couples spent a year or more on wedding planning, while 42% arranged theirs in three to nine months, and a super speedy 5% managed to organise theirs within a month.
Most couples get married a year or more after their engagement which gives them plenty of time for wedding planning. A year may sound like a long time but when you consider than venues get booked up a couple of years in advance during peak wedding season it’s actually not very long at all. As well as booking the venues, the couple will also need to find caterers, florists, entertainers, cake makers, and photographers who are available on the day.
A year provides plenty of time for wedding dress shopping and is enough time for a dress to be made from scratch or altered to fit the bride perfectly. It also gives the bride ample time to lose weight, grow her hair, start a new skincare routine, or do whatever else she’d like to do to look and feel her best on the wedding day. If you’re getting married during the holiday season you may want to give your guests up to a year’s notice to avoid clashes with vacations.
It is possible to plan a wedding more quickly, but the closer you get to the wedding date the more sacrifices you will need to make. You may get a great deal on a last minute venue booking, but you’re unlikely to get the venue of your dreams at short notice. You may not have time for a custom made dress but you can always choose one off the rack that only needs minimal alteration. The main issue with a very short notice wedding is likely to be the availability of guests so make sure the people you really want to be there are free before you book a wedding date that’s just a month away.
