A brush with death was the catalyst for Emily Flynn’s heart to realise the love for co-worker Bradley Johnson.
The two were working at Brisbane’s Breakfast Creek Hotel, but Emily had to take time off after almost losing her life to a stroke. “When I got back to work and study, I saw Brad in a different way,” says Emily, 28. “One date turned into two and the rest is history.”
Brad, 32, kept his girlfriend guessing with the proposal. “I thought I knew Brad pretty well but all the times I picked he was going to propose were all wrong,” laughs Emily. “He caught me off guard one Sunday morning when we went for a walk along the beach…I went into shock and nearly forgot to say yes.”
Emily said she felt honoured to be chosen as Brad’s wife. “The best feeling I had when he did ask me to marry him was that I felt so blessed and lucky that he picked me to be his wife.”
They were married on July 19, 2013 with 80 guests in Samford, Brisbane. Their garden wedding was relaxed and filled with love, just as planned. Emily’s advice for other brides is to soak up every moment of the day. “It goes so quickly and as soon as it is over, you want to do it all over again,” she smiles.
The bride and groom wed at Topiaries at Beaumont, Samford, Brisbane.
“Brad and I are a good match. He is very cool, calm and collected where as I, on the other hand, am always on the go,” says Emily.
