We’re not sure many couples could say they have never spoken an unkind word to one another, but in the relationship of Lara Antonelli and Cardin Leorke, it rings true.
“We respect one another and want the best for each other,” smiles Lara. “We both make the other believe in soul mates.”
The couple discovered their true love after sharing an intimate moment, four years after first meeting. “Cardin managed to take my breath away and cement our existence in one kiss,” explains Lara. “We never actually spoke about our relationship status…it was an unspoken understanding.”
The pair, 31 and 37 respectively, were married on black Friday, December 13, 2013 with a modern-vintage wedding. Lara said they worked towards creating a very unique day, including less traditional elements to suit their taste and beliefs. “We liaised with our celebrant to write the script for the ceremony and included our hopes for same-sex marriage in the future,” says Lara.
The Convent Gallery in Daylesford, Victoria, created the ideal atmosphere for the celebration with about 65 guests. “Guests could enjoy canapés and entrees on the balcony overlooking Daylesford, then enter the main atrium for sit down main meals and roaming desserts,” recalls Lara. “The gardens are so gorgeous too, so guests could enjoy all aspects of the spaces with ease, as it was a gloriously sunny day.”
“Every moment captured is true, honest and never staged,” Lara says of the photography by Beck Rocchi.
“My hair was braided to accommodate my headpiece, tying in with the extravagance of the beaded gown,” explains Lara.
Lara’s gown was tailor-made by Australian designer Gwendolynne Burkin.
