All eyes were on the most junior attendant when Rachel Morton and Kieran McLaughlin said ‘I do’ at their country riverside wedding.
The couple’s two-year-old daughter, Madison, wearing a handmade dusty pink dress that matched the five bridesmaids, “hijacked” the vows conducted by local celebrant Carolyn Harrop. “She was the flower girl and HAD to be involved!” laughs the Swan Hill (Vic) bride, 29.
After meeting through the local Woorinen Football Netball Club, Kieran, 30, proposed on the riverbank outside the pair’s first home.
It was the same riverbank that features in so many of their respective childhood memories; hence the decision to marry there on April 19, 2014, was an easy one.
“Guests had an absolute blast,” recalls Rachel of the 112 friends and loved ones, who got up onto the dance floor and did some hijacking of their own – of the microphone. Renowned Swan Hill musician, Scoogs, entertained and obliged.
Rachel says their big day was created on a small budget. “It still made a beautiful wedding – it can be done.”
Caroline Ellis was there to snap the fun.
Rachel’s bridesmaids wore multi-way wrap dresses in dusty pink whilst the bride, a police officer, chose a lace high-neck halter style from Bendigo Bridal Collections.
The ceremony setup was created by Deblu’s of Kerang.
The couple’s painted cake tied all their styling elements together.
