The Gold Coast Indy 300 isn’t exactly the place you imagine romance to blossom, but it’s where Danika Bravo and Aaron Graham fell in love.
The pair, aged 27 and 28 respectively, had known each other through high school but it wasn’t until seeing each other at the Surfer’s Paradise car race years later that they took things to the next level. “We partied all night and exchanged numbers,” explains Danika. “Aaron then invited me over for dinner a few weeks after that…and the rest is history as they say.”
On a camping trip with friends at Somerset Dam, Aaron surprised Danika with a proposal. “At sunset he asked if we could go for a walk by the dam,” says Danika. “He pulled out a box from his shorts and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes of course and we went back to the group who all knew what was happening and we celebrated.”
The Brisbane couple chose water views for their bayside wedding on April 26, 2014. They were married at a church in Petrie where Danika attended primary school, followed by a reception at Full Moon Hotel in Shorncliffe.
“Our wedding day was amazing; everything went to plan and the only bad thing was that it went so quickly,” laughs Danika.
Danika wore a strapless gown by Maggie Sottero.
The bridesmaids wore gowns and accessories from Witchery.
“What I love about Danika is that she restored my faith in love,” says Aaron.
