First impressions count but thankfully for Mark Silvia, Katie Fazzolari saw more than just his tipsy side.
“We met through mutual friends…and after Mark made a very bad first impression after too many drinks, his nerve and rudeness led me to talk to him again the next time I saw him to put him in his place,” laughs Katie, 27. “We both laughed about our first experiences of meeting each other.”
The couple quickly fell in love and spent time travelling, renovating homes and adopting their staffy, Lucy. When it came time to propose however, Katie wasn’t such a team player.
“He had intended to propose to me whilst we were on holidays in Melbourne…but all of the moments he had planned were ‘ruined’ by me not wanting to do things or by me being moody at the time,” smiles Katie.
Instead Mark, 28, settled for a simple but romantic proposal at home in bed. “I was truly surprised,” Katie recalls.
Their seaside wedding with 100 guests was held at Glasshouse Function Centre at The Entrance on NSW’s central coast.
“Our location photos were taken at Long Jetty wharf, The Entrance waterfront and at a merry-go-round,” explains Katie. “This merry-go-round was a place that my family would take me and my brother as kids.”
Katie wore a figure-hugging Brides Desire white ruched mermaid gown from Ferrari Formalwear & Bridal.
“We gave guests a personalised tape measure and pen as Mark is a carpenter by trade and I am a teacher,” says Katie.
“Our cake was four-tiered mud topped with a personalised bobble head/Superman topper – because Mark thinks he is Superman!” laughs Katie.
