True Blue Ceremonies

Katie Keen founded True Blue Ceremonies after 8 years’ experience as a Registrar of Marriages, having conducted and registered many hundreds of marriages and civil partnerships for happy couples in Kent. She very much enjoyed her career and loved meeting all the lovely couples she married, but as a local Authority Registrar felt frustrated by the restrictions that existed, and at only being able to offer them a standard wedding script – as we all know, one size does not necessarily fit all!

Katie observed that there was a need to offer a Celebrant-led Wedding Ceremony that could be tailored to each couple in order to make it totally personal for them, and enable them to celebrate their special day without restriction. As an Independent Celebrant, Katie now enjoys meeting and getting to know her couples often many months before their Wedding Day and helping them celebrate their relationship and love with an individual, bespoke Wedding Ceremony.

Each Wedding ceremony script she produces is written from scratch, with elements and ideas drawn from the couple, as well as any symbolism they’d like to include – for instance, the inclusion of hand-fasting or the lighting of a unity candle. Unlike a Humanist Celebrant, Katie is free include religious prayer, hymns or other symbolic aspects that may be important in a couple’s life. The script develops over time and is not finalised until the clients are totally happy.

Katie now enjoys meeting and getting to know her couples often many months before their Wedding Day and helping them celebrate their relationship and love.

I've been a professional Celebrant since 2013 yet still get a buzz out of every single wedding ceremony that I deIiver! On my days off I like listening to podcasts, live music and comedy and have a soft spot for anything with James Acaster in it. We are Francophiles and visit each year as a family.
