A show-stopper proposal paved the way for Sarah-Jane Wall and Lee Eslamifar’s picture-perfect castle wedding.
The Romford, Essex couple met online in 2012 after both coming out of rocky long-term relationships. “In June 2015, Lee wrote a series of clues, hidden within poems, that led me from our flat in Romford, to Chancery Lane Station where we first kissed, to the bar we had our first date and then finally to the place he claims to have fallen in love with me – a restaurant in South Quay,” Sarah-Jane, 35, recalls.
“Spread across the four envelopes which held the clues were 100 reasons why he thinks I’m the ‘bestest’. When I arrived at the restaurant he presented me with a box which had a sticker on it – #100 She Agreed to Marry Me. Inside was a ring he had designed for me which was stunning. It was an absolutely incredible day.”
Within two days of proposing, Sarah-Jane and Lee, 34, discovered Hedingham Castle in Braintree and “absolutely fell in love”. They planned their castle wedding for their three-year anniversary on March 13, 2016, marrying in front of 36 friends and family and 18 guests taking part in the evening celebrations.
“For nine months, I literally crafted and designed details for our wedding every night after work and loved every single minute of it,” Sarah-Jane says.
“When the day finally came it was everything we dreamed it would be. Lee and his best man were vehemently against public speaking and, having lost their mum 18 months before, knew a speech would be really hard. So Lee created the most touching, hilarious, creative video speech – he had everyone in stitches.”
The bride says there is nothing major she would change about the special day.
“I would hope that everyone feels this way about their own wedding but it was quite literally, the best day of my life – the proposal was incredible but our wedding day was perfection.”

Sarah-Jane chose a David Tutera for Mon Cheri gown and her entrusted her bridesmaids to find a dress that suited them both.
“3pm meant the girls and I had a lovely morning getting ready, but of course it also meant that the wedding itself was only nine hours long which wasn’t long enough!” reflects the bride on her day.
“My dad is obsessed with history and I was dragged around castles and churches throughout my childhood so the venue just seemed completely fitting,” explains Sarah-Jane of Hedingham Castle.
“I didn’t want a big fancy cake – we wanted a naked, simple Victoria sponge that would be in keeping with the castle theme,” says Sarah-Jane.
