She loves dogs. He loves cats. But never fear, a marriage can still work despite this hairy conflict!
Alexandra Macaulay, 28, says she “never expected” to fall in love with one of her brother’s mates. “But that’s exactly what happened,” explains Ally of Daniel Felkai, 33. “After noticing each other over Dan’s sister’s Facebook posts, Dan decided to crash a dinner catch up Vanessa and I had.”
They bonded over a similar taste in YouTube videos, Monty Python quotes and Tom Lehrer songs, but quickly after realising their friendship had blossomed into love, Dan left for overseas to travel. “We spent the first 4 months of our proper relationship on opposite sides of the world – thank god for Skype,” smiles Ally.
A year later they were engaged and then married on September 21, 2013 at Belgenny Farm in Camden, NSW. Their farm wedding was rusticly-styled and celebrated on a clear spring day. “It was a perfect day full of love, happiness, tears, laughs and a lot of dancing and fun,” says Ally.
As for the cat/dog issue… Ally says it’s all good. “We love each other’s differences, it balances us. Two little puzzle pieces that fit together, and are happiest when we are.”

Ally’s bouquets were created with orange ranunculus and marigold orchids.
Dressmaker from home, Sue Liolio, created Ally’s gown based on a Downton Abbey vibe.
The couple didn’t want to miss out on capturing their day on video, so asked Dan’s sister to work her magic on a handheld digital camera.
