It is not easy to find a venue to suit a picnic themed wedding. Especially when I am wanting to do as much of it myself as I can. Most places want you to use a specific caterer and others only allow sit down receptions under a marquee and none of these things are on my list. Our first venue fell through so we had to start the hunt all over again.
We had a look through the Garden Weddings category on Easy Weddings and came across some beautiful places and all of them quite budget friendly. The only issue we had was that we wanted to be able to lay down a chess table, a big one – really big, have electricity access and have a toilets because lets face it porta loos do not scream elegance and are well yuck. So we drove all around the state looking for somewhere beautiful and somewhere that wasn’t going to take forever for people to get to. We have guests from all stretches of Victoria so it can not have too long of a travel time. I know I hate travelling too far if I am going to a wedding.
The Venue we have chosen to go with had not only all of these options but also a wet weather option if it happens to be a normal Melbourne day with every season in one day. It is the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick, Victoria. It has a nice country feel to it and so many different sections that I could hardly resist. There is a beautiful spot for our dance floor, massive amount of land for all the children to run around and a beauty canopy of trees for us to eat under for the reception.
