Downtown Abbey actress Michelle Dockery has lost her PR executive fiance John Dineen, to a rare form of cancer.
Michelle, 34, was in the U.S for the Downtown Abbey promotional tour when she received news of her fiance’s deteriorating condition. John, 34, passed away at the Marymount Hospital in Cork, Ireland, after Michelle had rushed to be by his side.
Michelle had been in a relationship with the Irish executive since 2013, after they were introduced by Michelle’s Downtown Abbey co-star Allen Leech, who plays chauffeur Tom Branson on the Golden Globe winning TV show. John and Michelle were engaged in February this year.
According to the Huffington Post Michelle’s spokesperson released a statement to ITV news stating:
“The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private,”
Michelle attended John’s funeral which took place at the St James’ Catholic Church, in his home village of Waterfall, County Cork.
