A Tasmania bride has ended up in hospital on her wedding day – and her groom and best man charged with disorderly conduct – after an alcohol-fuelled brawl broke out at their Hobart wedding reception early Saturday morning.
The bride fell ill with alcohol poisoning around midnight on Friday and an ambulance was called to the reception but, by the time the paramedics arrived, a number of overly drunk guests had started to brawl amongst themselves.
Unable to handle the aggressive crowd, paramedics called Police.
It took six officers to calm the rowdy guests, some of whom even threw punches at the officers.
The groom and best man were taken into custody and have been charged with disorderly conduct. The maid of honour was ‘talked to’ but not charged and the bride is recovering in the Royal Hobart Hospital.
