Scottish tennis star Andy Murray will marry fiancee Kim Sears at Dunblane Cathedral later today in what is being dubbed Scotland’s ‘Royal wedding.’
Their formal cathedral wedding ceremony will be followed by a glamorous wedding reception at Cromlix House Hotel, a luxury 15-room country manor Murray bought in 2013 for about $3.5 million and converted into a five-star hotel after months of extensive renovations.
It has its own chapel and was named 2014’s Scottish Hotel of the Year just weeks after it was re-opened as a hotel to the public. The venue’s kitchen is run by Michel Roux Jr, son of legendary French chef Albert Roux, and the hotel sits on acres of beautifully manicured gardens and, of course, several tennis courts.
Andy and Kim, both 27, have been dating for nine years and became engaged in November 2014 and, according to the post below, which Andy posted on his Twitter account this morning, the groom-to-be is VERY excited about his upcoming nuptials.
They have chosen to marry at Cromlix House Hotel because the venue, where Andy’s brother Jamie also married in 2010, is particularly close to their hearts – and around the corner from where they grew up. Bet they get a hefty per-head discount, too!
“I’m so happy that Andy has got engaged,” said the tennis pro’s proud mum Judy told Hello! magazine after the big news was announced.
“It was very exciting when it happened. I’m thrilled to bits about the engagement.”
Now, we just have to wait and see if Andy chooses a morning suit or a kilt!
