American couple Christine Swidorsky and Sean Stevenson never intended to marry until mid 2014. Of course they never intended that their darling two-year-old son Logan wouldn’t be present to witness their long-awaited union.
So, when they received heart-breaking news that their infant son had myeloid leukemia and, likely, wouldn’t survive until their planned July 2014 nuptials, they set about planning their big day to include him. They even made him their best man.
Too frail to walk by himself, little Logan was carried down the aisle by his mother, the bride. Wearing the tiniest of pinstripe suits, the sick little boy watched silently as his parents wed in the couple’s backyard on the weekend.
It was a family affair that was made possible by donations even from people the couple didn’t know but had heard about their heartbreaking plight. Christine’s 13-year-old daughter Isabella acted as bridesmaid and the couple’s one-year-old Savannah was the flower girl.
“Under the circumstances and the diagnosis, we decided to do it while he was still with us ” said the groom, Logan’s father told local Pennsylvanian television station WTAC. “We did everything as soon as we could.”
His mother told AP, “We want Logan in our family pictures, and we want him to see his mother and dad get married.”
Sadly, little Logan passed away in his sleep on Tuesday evening, Australian time. His passing was announced by Christine on her Facebook page. She wrote: [Logan] “took his last breath in my arms.”
She added that she was “in disbelief” but that her son “is with angels and he’s in no more pain.”
