Beth Gunns and Peter Merrell may have dreamt of a big white wedding, but it was an intimate affair that ended up fulfilling their dreams.
The pair, both aged 25, met while at university and were together within a week! After becoming engaged while on holiday in Greece four years later, they began planning a “big white wedding.” But two years passed, and the couple really wanted to seal the deal.
“We decided upon a smaller more intimate day which we knew we could afford – we had an exclusive list of only 34 guests,” describes Beth. “Thirty-four people was the maximum number we could fit in the Wool Hall at The Swan at Lavenham which we both fell instantly in love with.”
Their autumn wedding was held on October 22, 2015 which the bride describes as “perfect.” “We had the ceremony and meal all within the Wool Hall, but had the freedom to roam around the hotel and grounds,” smiles Beth. And guests were treated to an extra surprise at the reception – a little magic! “My parents arranged for a magician to come and entertain people and he was just fantastic,” says Beth.

The bride’s glamorous shorter wedding gown with lace was sourced from Brides by Solo.
Peter’s handsome navy suit was found at Burton Men’s Wear.
“We are now planning our first year anniversary where we plan on spending it at The Swan,” smiles Beth.
” The food was brilliant and the service at The Swan was even better,” praises Beth.
