Most couples buy bridesmaids thank you gifts to let their bridesmaids know how much they appreciate the role they have played in their wedding. If you’re wondering what to do about bridesmaids thank you gifts read these top tips:
There is no cast-iron rule about when to give your bridesmaids thank you gifts; it depends largely on what you have chosen.
Prior to the ceremony, when you are all getting your hair and makeup done, is a great time to give your presents, whatever they may be. If you do pick this moment, make sure your bridesmaids can put their gifts somewhere safe so they don’t need to take them into the ceremony. Of course this doesn’t apply if you are giving them something to wear on the day. If you select a gift to complement the bridesmaids’ outfits such as a necklace or clutch bag, you may want to give the present before the wedding, possibly at the last dress fitting.
Some gifts can be given after the wedding day such as flowers or a photograph of the bridesmaid. Try to get someone else to arrange this for you so the bridesmaids don’t have to wait until you come back from your honeymoon to receive their presents.
A piece of good quality jewellery to complement their outfit is a great choice for older bridesmaids or, if your budget can stretch to it, an experience gift, such as a day at a spa or tickets to a show can really express your appreciation for all their efforts. More affordable alternatives include perfume, a jewellery box, designer bath products, or a clutch bag or purse to use with their wedding outfit.
Your maid of honour or adult bridesmaids deserve extra special gifts. They may have accompanied you on dress shopping trips, planned your hen party, or even arranged certain parts of the wedding itself. Bridesmaids often spend hours on the phone with brides discussing wedding issues and concerns. For all of these reasons, they deserve a personalised thank you present.
Young bridesmaids or flower girls might like a small trinket to remind them of your wedding day, and you can make a present for young bridesmaids extra special by having it engraved or embroidered with their name and the wedding date, with a short note expressing your gratitude. Gifts could be anything from a bracelet to wear with their bridesmaid dress, to a teddy bear or doll. Alternatively you could present them with a framed picture of them in their bridesmaid or flower girl frock after the wedding.
