Oscar-winning actor George Clooney has married fiancee Amal Alamuddin in a lavish four-day wedding event in Italy.
The couple touched down in Venice on Friday before heading off for a star-studded rehearsal dinner attended by family and an array of celebrity friends, including model Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, U2 frontman Bono, comedian Bill Murray and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
George, 53, and Amal, 36, have been engaged since April and wed in front of about 100 people, including both sets of parents, just after sunset at the historic seven-star resort, Aman Canal Grande Venice.
The ceremony was presided over by George’s friend (and former mayor of Rome), Walter Veltroni.
The groom wore a simple but elegant black Armani tuxedo while the bride worn a floor-length embroidered white Oscar de la Renta gown.
Amal’s mother, Baria Alamuddin, who is a newspaper editor, told People Magazine, “”George and Amal radiated love all nigh. The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.”
