Fifteen months after they met, 26-year-old on-off model Gabi Grecko and her 72-year-old beau, entrepreneur Geoffrey Edelsten, have married in an intimate wedding ceremony.
The groom told the Daily Mail, “‘It went very well and we are very pleased,” adding that “it was thrilling. I was very excited. This is the real deal.”
The American-born bride wore a low-cut full-length Diane von Furstenberg outfit that was covered in white sequins and kept away Melbourne’s winter chill with a white bolero. Her hair, chopped to a bob, was a blazing orange and she topped off the outfit with a tiny veil she picked up from a costume shop and described as ‘tacky’.
The simple, low-key ceremony, held yesterday afternoon, was a long way from Geoffrey’s 2009 wedding, to then 25-year-old Brynne Edelsten, which, reportedly, cost about three million dollars. However, the newlyweds are planning a bigger, grander celebration later this year when Gabi’s US-based family can join them in Australia.
‘We will have another and a reception in a few months when my family can come. We didn’t want to wait until then,’ Gabbi told the Daily Mail.
“Not even his mum is coming,’ Gabi said. “Esther (Geoffrey’s elderly mother) was invited but we felt because my parents couldn’t come that it wouldn’t be fair if one side was there and not the other.
“We just thought it would be better to come when they are all coming. That’s for another time.”
Alas, with the bride feeling unwell, the couple headed straight home after their wedding ceremony and, when asked by the Daily Mail later that evening whether the marriage had been consummated, the groom replied, “No.”
This is Geoffrey’s third marriage and Gabi’s first. We wish the lucky couple many happy years together.
