Seven reasons to hire a wedding cottage

With a growing trend for smaller, more intimate weddings, a wedding cottage makes a wonderful venue. It allows couples to have the feel of a wedding at home but with generally better facilities and surroundings than they would get in their own houses. Here are some great reasons for choosing a wedding cottage as your wedding venue:

More flexibility

Most wedding cottages will have a large enough garden that can be used for an outdoor wedding reception, with or without a marquee, and you can let your imagination run free. If you prefer a formal sit down dinner you can hire a caterer, but if your dad wants to do a simple BBQ, that’s acceptable too. When you hire a wedding cottage you will avoid being tied to the usual wedding packages, which means you can create the wedding of your dreams.

Cosy atmosphere

By hiring a wedding cottage you can recreate the feeling of a wedding at home without stressing about redecorating, landscaping the garden, or repairing any damage after the big day. The cosy atmosphere of a wedding cottage means that it will be like having a wedding at home, but probably in a more picturesque setting, with a bit more space.

Increased intimacy

A wedding cottage is a perfect setting for a small wedding, and there is often accommodation for a small group of guests. This type of wedding is particularly popular amongst couples that are tying the knot for the second time. Many couples are turning their backs on extravagant weddings and choosing to celebrate with just close family and friends.

Venue exclusivity

A wedding cottage will offer exclusive use, meaning that you and your guests have total privacy on your big day without having to keep quiet so as not to disturb the other hotel guests, or feeling awkward about having to share your venue with other wedding parties.

Accommodation included

The two of you can stay overnight at the wedding cottage you won’t need to worry about booking wedding night accommodation or travelling back to your hotel. Having accommodation on site will give you an opportunity to escape for a few moments from the guests, during a day when you are constantly the centre of attention. You don’t need to keep your champagne intake to a minimum during the day as neither of you will have to drive at the end of the evening.

Getting ready

A wedding cottage provides a homely atmosphere for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready before the ceremony and the bridesmaids can also spend some time getting the bridal room prepared for the wedding night, with flowers, chocolates and champagne. You’ll have to travel to a licenced venue for your ceremony but the cottage will be all ready when you get back.

Idyllic honeymoon

Once the wedding is over and the guests have departed, it will be a special and significant location for you and your new husband to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Your wedding cottage will probably be situated in a picturesque location, making it the perfect setting to carry on with your celebrations and take your honeymoon.
