Pregnancy news couldn’t deter Claire, 28, and Stuart, 29, from sticking to their November 10, 2018 wedding day.
That’s despite knowing their baby would be just four months old when they wed. “It was a beautiful surprise, but we did wonder whether we should postpone [or just elope] to make things easier,” explains Claire. “Much to everyone’s surprise, we decided to stick to the date and make it work.”
They married at their classic autumnal wedding with 74 guests with a ceremony the Castle of Mey in Caithness, Scotland, and reception at Mackay’s Hotel in Wick. “I always knew I wanted a wedding in autumn,” smiles Claire. “It’s my favourite season and I adore the colours, flavours and darker nights at this time of year, so that really shaped a lot of the choices of our big day.”
The weather turned it on for the couple and they were able to snap plenty of outdoor shots on the castle grounds. “We had a fairly small wedding, with just closest family and friends there, and decided to go with a humanist ceremony,” describes Claire. “Our humanist Angus, gave the most beautiful ceremony that he personalised to tell the story of our relationship, which really made the service that bit extra special to us.”

The couple opted for an intimate, humanist ceremony.
The sun was shining, allowing for plenty of outdoor photos.
“We decided against going a honeymoon just yet with having our little one, but we did go on a mini-moon,” says the bride.
