Their love grew in Spain so it was only natural this English couple would include touches of the stunning country on their wedding day.
Abigail Moody, 26, and Christopher Smith, 31, endured a long-distance relationship for many months while Abbie was working in Malaga, Spain. Eventually Chris bit the bullet and made the move to join her. “Four years later we are still here and enjoying every minute,” explains Abbie.
But despite their two-and-a-half-year engagement being “so British,” according to the couple’s Spanish friends, Abbie and Chris brought a touch of Spain to their Derbyshire wedding, including the bride’s gown from Emily Bridalwear. “After deciding the dress was The One, we discovered its Spanish name, Casablanca – another sign it was meant to be,” says Abbie.
The pair had 80 guests in the day and 100 guests in the evening at their vintage wedding held at The Maynard in Grindleford. Attendees even got to take home a piece of Spain! “We wanted something personal to us and decided on miniature bottles of olive oil, or aceite de olive, as favours to bring an element of Spain to the day,” smiles Abbie.

Chris and his groomsmen were dressed in grey suits with traditional vests and ties by Mirage Couture.
“We were able to take a few moments throughout the day alone to really talk and reflect on the day,” says the bride.
“The nerves were there, of course, especially during the ceremony and first dance,” recalls Abbie.
