Of all the things to handle at the last minute in life, a proposal isn’t ideally one of them.
But for Geoff Turner, it took only 10 minutes to plan his proposal to girlfriend Kimberley Lauf, after witnessing her sing at a corporate event for the first time. “Geoff asked for the microphone and got down on one knee and asked in front of 500 people,” explains Kimberley, 29, or her beau, 36. “Luckily, I said yes,” she laughs.
The pair from Ely, Cambridgeshire, married at their traditional wedding on August 23, 2014 in Wiltshire. One hundred guests joined them for the day of perfect weather, with a church ceremony followed by a reception at the town hall in Marlborough. “We had a horse and carriage and match teas before the wedding breakfast – the food was delicious,” smiles the bride. “I sang Close to You by The Carpenters as a surprise for Geoff.”
