OVERVIEW

Hand Made Food is a community Traiteur where chefs are working on site developing and creating new dishes right in front of you.

It is a cross between a deli/cafe, south London’s answer to the River Cottage HQ and a busy catering company cooking at venues all over London and the south east. Chefs cook delicacies such as fresh pates, beetroot infused couscous, Thai fish cakes, curry mutton or crispy pork belly for you to take away, or eat in the gallery upstairs.

All our produce is local, free range, seasonal and mainly from small growers and producers in the UK.

Handmade Food did the food for the day and we can’t say enough good things about them. From all the contact before the wedding and being so flexible with our last minute changes to being there and setting up the day before to the phenomenal level of service on the day and the fantastic food, I’d be tempted to plan another big event just to have them cater it. The number of times our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever had, to simply the best food they’d had, Handmade Food were a roaring success. They really got what Shane and I were about and were able to reflect that in the food so perfectly well.

We found our caterers Handmade Food by doing a google map search for outside catering within a few miles of Trinity Buoy Wharf. As soon as we walked into their relaxed Blackheath Deli we knew we’d struck gold and a couple of homemade sausage rolls and bacon sarnies sealed the deal! The team at Handmade Food were brilliantly helpful and friendly from our very first email. With so much delicious seasonal British fare on offer it was tricky for us to come to a decision about exactly what we wanted to serve our guests but we eventually decided on what they described as a ‘rolling feast’ – a seemingly never-ending parade of big dishes to share, from salads and homemade breads to terrines and wild mushroom risotto cakes, finishing with the most delicious beef stifado (plus a cheeky tiramisu for pud!)."
