{"id":232519,"date":"2019-07-29T05:00:37","date_gmt":"2019-07-28T19:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/uk\/real-weddings\/a-day-to-remember-angela-and-simons-contemporary-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-17T14:09:22","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T03:09:22","slug":"a-day-to-remember-angela-and-simons-contemporary-wedding","status":"publish","type":"uk-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.co.uk\/real-weddings\/uk\/real-weddings\/a-day-to-remember-angela-and-simons-contemporary-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"A day to remember: Angela and Simon&#8217;s contemporary wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Angela and Simon\u2019s contemporary wedding put a playful spin on tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was important to us during the planning of the wedding that we incorporated things that meant people would enjoy the day,\u201d Simon says.<\/p>\n<p>The couple hosted their 90 guests at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.co.uk\/WeddingVenues\/Northamptonshire\/WhittleburyPark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whittlebury Park<\/a>, Towcester, Northhampton, for the August 10, 2018 celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAngela is half Cypriot and we also wanted to include some Greek elements to the day. Instead of the wedding march the pianist played Zorba the Greek and everyone clapped along, which was a fun departure from a more traditional entrance,\u201d Simon says.<\/p>\n<p>There was another surprise in store at the wedding breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAngela secretly booked singing waiters for the wedding breakfast and I was surprised as anyone when one of the staff pretended to fall over and drop a platter of cutlery and followed up by bursting into song with <em>Nessun Dorma<\/em>. They got everyone up and dancing and this helped with the traditional post-lunch lull.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a fantastic day that we loved where our friends and families could really get involved. &#8216;little something&#8217; to let her know what she means to me. When she opened it she realised it was an engagement ring and I asked her to marry me.
