It was three years after they had originally planned to wed, but Alex was so ill with red skin syndrome the delay was necessary (recovery takes three years or much longer for an adult). \u201cIt was the most traumatic experience we have had to go through&#8230; my fianc\u00e9 became my carer,\u201d explains Alex. \u201cI started to recover but had to battle with depression and anxiety a result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple married at Healey barn, creating many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.co.uk\/articles\/diy-wedding-tips\/\">DIY items<\/a> to decorate the space. \u201cMost items were DIY including a horse-shoe table plan, accessories from vintage dress clips, wooden signs, fimo wedding toppers and hula hoops to display photos,\u201d recalls the bride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe long journey through difficult times to get down the aisle made it so much more overwhelmingly wonderful,\u201d smiles Alex. \u201cThis was the wedding we were always meant to have, all the geeky
