{"id":196828,"date":"2015-06-02T23:00:03","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T13:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/uk\/real-weddings\/lucy-lukes-not-so-traditional-crimson-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-03-17T09:51:44","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T22:51:44","slug":"lucy-lukes-not-so-traditional-crimson-wedding","status":"publish","type":"uk-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.co.uk\/real-weddings\/uk\/real-weddings\/lucy-lukes-not-so-traditional-crimson-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Splash of colour: Lucy &amp; Luke&#8217;s not so traditional crimson wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Not even Lucy Sanderson\u2019s fear of heights could get in the way of partner Luke Smith\u2019s romantic proposal atop the Wheel of Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>It was Valentine\u2019s Day and Luke, 24, had hired a limousine to whisk them to the wheel\u2019s VIP pod, aptly named Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m terrified of heights,\u201d Lucy, 23, explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we set off I burst into tears saying I wanted to get off to which Luke shouted \u2018can you just shut up and let me do this!\u2019 \u2026 and he gave me the ring! After a few glasses of champagne the nerves settled and I was able to enjoy the moment. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>The Manchester couple, who met when they were 16 and have two daughters together, then began planning a crimson wedding, their own twist on tradition.<\/p>\n<p>The pair married on February 14, 2015 in front of 110 guests at <a title=\"The Monastery Manchester\" href=\"http:\/\/www.easyweddings.co.uk\/WeddingVenues\/GreaterManchester\/TheMonasteryManchester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Monastery<\/a>, Manchester, a historic monastery converted to a unique venue that also hosted the couple\u2019s reception.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy had an entourage of four bridesmaids and nine flower girls to help her up the aisle and her scarlet gown made a stunning contrast to the rest of the bridal party\u2019s white dresses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople did say how relaxed and informal the wedding was with a big emphasis on family and friends,\u201d Lucy says.
