in the way of their\u00a0dream of walking down the aisle.<\/p>\n<p>The pair, from Cambridgeshire, met just before Emily, 20, was due to leave to start basic\u00a0army training and Michael, 25, was shipping out for six months to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got back in contact through a few emails while he was deployed, we met up when he got home\u00a0and the rest is history,\u201d Emily says.<\/p>\n<p>After Michael proposed in January 2014 the couple set their sights on a shabby chic wedding.<\/p>\n<p>The planning was done in a hurry as Michael was due to return to Afghanistan in December so the\u00a0date was set for June 21, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe decided that we would have a traditional Church of England ceremony in the church where I was\u00a0baptised and an informal barbecue reception at the local football club,\u201d Emily says.<\/p>\n<p>One hundred guests witnessed the ceremony at The Church of St Peter and St Paul, in Wisbech\u00a0and partied on at the Leverington Sports and Social Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weather was beautiful, all our family and friends were there \u2013 who could want anything more?\u201d\u00a0Emily says.<\/p>\n<p>But the best wedding presents came after the big day \u2013 Michael was told he would never be required\u00a0to return to Afghanistan and the couple is also expecting their first child.<\/p>\n<p>Photos courtesy of
