After travelling the world together, Sarah and Liam knew they wanted to hold their elegant romantic wedding abroad.

“We have been to over 15 destinations since we have been together as we both share a
love of travelling,” Sarah, 28, says.

“We knew that we wanted an abroad wedding and we both LOVE French wine and cheese and so our search was narrowed to France immediately.”

After researching online, the Hemel Hempstead couple discovered Marry Me In France and fell in love with Chateau Soulac, near the village of Juillac in the country’s southern-centre.

When it came to styling, Sarah and Liam, 27, knew they wanted lemon to be the main colour of the day, with the theme centering around travel.

“Everything from the flowers, to my bridesmaids’ dresses were lemon coloured and the theme of travel was present throughout the day,” Sarah says.

The couple wed at the venue’s rustic barn in front of 60 friends and family on June 16, 2018.

“We had a magical five days in the Chateau, including a pre-wedding barbecue on the Friday night and everything went so well,” Sarah says of the destination wedding.

“It really was the best weekend of our lives!”

Sarah advises future brides to follow their heart when it came to wedding planning. “Do everything for you and your groom and not for everyone else. Make sure it’s as personal as you want it to be,” she says.

The couple first met on Christmas Eve, 2013 when they were both on a night out. “I was dancing with my friends and went to the toilet but as I closed the door to go in, I trapped my finger in the door and fainted on the dance floor,” Sarah explains. “Liam saw this and helped me up and got me a drink and the rest is history.”

Liam proposed after about three years together when the couple was in Florida. “The engagement wasn’t conventionally romantic… we were in our apartment in Orlando and I had just came out of the bathroom and there he was in the middle of the living room with this gorgeous ring on one knee! He said he wanted to catch me off guard and he certainly did! We went to a lovely posh restaurant that night to celebrate,” the bride says.

The Cake Lady created the couple’s beautiful cake, complete with a touch of lemon.
