They followed their hearts and moved halfway across the world from South Africa to Scotland – now they’ve won Wedding of the Month!
Congratulations to Tania and Ray of Edinburgh, with their photographer Mark Owen.
The South African pair took their time getting to the aisle – meeting at seven years old, sharing a kiss at 17 and then finally getting serious at 29.
They wed in an intimate ceremony at Craigiehall, kicking off the celebrations in style at Edinburgh Castle the night before. “I became the Mess Manager at Edinburgh Castle and slowly our wedding grew into the most magical event I had ever imagined up,” says bride Tania. “We had the privilege of welcoming our families to Edinburgh Castle before we became husband and wife.”
Without her support crew around her, Tania said wedding planning was a bit daunting, however pretty quickly met some “amazing” people who helped whip the wedding into shape.
“From a lost bride to be with nearly no friends and her trusting fiancé that stood by her side all the way, we managed to have a day better that any of us could ever have imagined,” recalls Tania. “It was filled with love and laughter and although it started out lost in an unknown land it ended exactly how it should have.”
Tania and Ray have secured the tenth place in our 2016 Wedding of the Year competition, voting of which kicks off on February 1, 2017. They’re in the running to win a pampered second honeymoon to Barbados with The Crane and British Airways.
