Steven Pearson met Victoria Pettengell in a pub just weeks before he was due to move overseas.
While his chat up lines didn’t work straight off, sparks flew after Victoria, with the encouragement of a friend, agreed to meet Steven for their first date the very next day.
“We fell madly in love!” Steven, 27, says. “I still went traveling but only managed 10 months, I had to get back and make sure I didn’t lose her. We had our beautiful daughter two years later and Victoria even gave up her career to follow my career back overseas.”
It was just before the Wilmslow family’s second posting abroad that Steven decided it was time to pop the question to Victoria, 28. He presented his bride-to-be with a pear-shaped, yellow diamond for it to be custom made later. Victoria then had just three months to plan the couple’s romantic wedding!
Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire provided the romantic setting they were after and hosted the celebrations on September 14, 2014. Seventy guests joined the daytime celebrations, with 30 more joining in the evening festivities.
A relaxed barbecue dinner, romantic country setting, acoustic band and even a beer pong table added to the atmosphere.
“It was the most perfect day,” Steven says.

Victoria’s gorgeous gown was an ankle-length Novia D’art design from Timeless Bride.
Steven looked sharp in a three-piece suit from Ted Baker, which he wore with an open-collar shirt and printed pocket square.
“Our daughter had a custom dress to match Victoria’s,” says Steven of the miniature frock from BHS.
