April and Rien first met at a local rock gig – a fitting start to their quirky and alternative relationship.
Rien proposed to April following a night out in Las Vegas. The pair had spent the night rocking to a KISS and Ozzy Osbourne tribute band, mingling with fellow rock-lovers and dancing on tabletops. When they arrived back at their hotel room at 4:30am, Rien said ‘I don’t have a ring to propose with, but I have made you a sandwich’.
“The Las Vegas proposal was perfect because it encompassed our quirkiness, sense of adventure and pure love for one another,” says the bride.
Attended by 15 close family and friends, April and Rien hosted their July 14, 2018 legal wedding ceremony in The Valley of Fire, Nevada, a nod to the excitement and thrill of their engagement night.
Once back in Rudyard, Leek on August 11, 2018 90 guests joined the pair for the steampunk festival wedding reception held in a field at Fairboroughs Farm.
“Our steampunk wedding was unconventional yet elegant and the whole of our family and wedding party embraced the theme.”

“Our England reception had tiny hints of our personality everywhere you looked.”
A nod to their American engagement and legal ceremony, April and Rein had a Marilyn Monroe impersonator deliver a hilarious mock up ceremony that had guests in stitches.
“Our craziness and openness to the world allowed us to achieve a unique, personal and sentimental wedding experience for all involved,” says the bride.
