Turkish and West Indian cultures come together to celebrate couple’s contemporary wedding

A mix of contemporary and modern features, with stunning natural views, won over Vergi, 29, and Tariq, 27, in their search for a wedding location.

They chose Swynford Manor in Newmarket for their contemporary wedding with 200 guests on June 15, 2019. “During the wedding prep, our focus was to not go overboard, we wanted all areas of the day to be simple but sleek,” explains Vergi. “Our floral arrangement was natural and clean with no fuss. We decided to only have white and ivory features throughout which included the floral arrangements, chair decorations and stationary details.”

The couple made sure it was a celebration of both their cultures, incorporating Turkish traditions, including entering to their first dance to drums and flutes. “From soul train dances to $1 bill showers, our wedding united a West Indian and Turkish culture like never before,” smiles Vegi. “Riki Dalal dress and white jacket tux, slow dancing to John Legend and salsa dancing in the sun, our wedding oozed elegance, love and enjoyment.”

"Immediately we felt like we had known each other for years and had created this bond straight away and all we wanted to do was be around each other," Vergi says of meeting Tariq.

"After nine years together, we did it! I think we both knew this was something special from the start," says Vergi.

"Let everything happen and just enjoy the day. Don’t get caught up in any dramas or suppliers problems," advises Vergi.

"Immediately after we jetted off to our honeymoon where we spent one week in Dubai and one week in the Maldives which was paradise," recalls the bride.
