Already blessed with four children between them, Lucy Roe and Christopher Brown decided to get hitched 14 years after first becoming a couple.
“We travelled a lot, mainly Australia,” Lucy, 35, said of her and husband, Chris, 42. “We love Cornwall and living by the beach, we have a motorhome and go camping a lot.”
Their country fair wedding on September 6, 2014 included 150 of their loved ones. Lucy wore her dream wedding gown by Jenny Packham. “Being miles out of my budget I didn’t bother to pursue this and wasted months and months trying on dresses that I knew I didn’t even like,” she explains. “In desperation just weeks before the wedding I searched eBay for my dream dress, there it was in Bristol an affordable £450 rental for one week – they even altered it for me.”
Along with their impressive cake from Le Petit Gataue, Lucy brought a little DIY to the day, making a pavlova for the dessert table. “A few friends, neighbours and family members brought desserts too,” she says.
Lucy and Christopher are pleased they involved loved ones in the making of their special day. “Glitz and glam didn’t really play a part in our wedding, it was just really natural,” says Lucy.
“I look back at our day with a huge sense of achievement for the epic day that we, family and friends created.”

“Alexa Poppe was my amazing photographer,” smiles Lucy.
“I borrowed my friend Anna’s veil, it was beautiful. I only wore it for church and photos though,” smiles Lucy.
“The cake was amazing,” says Lucy. “Most people had never seen anything like it.”
“The reception was at Retorrick Mill; a very musical and rustic place full of charm and character,” describes Lucy.
