“Love is an international language that everyone understands” were some very true words spoken at Kei Lau and Marco Morelli’s wedding.
The Chinese-Australia and Italian met at a Christmas party in London of 2013. Two years later they were engaged and began planning their cultural wedding in Bologna, Italy with 80 guests from around the world, for July 3, 2016. “The priest started the ceremony with a very fitting comment: ‘We all speak different languages, however love is an international language that everyone understands’,” says the bride.
The reception was held at a 17th century property named Villa Nicolaj. “To represent my Chinese heritage we had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony … to show respect and thanks to our parents,” explains Kei. Following on “the guests experienced true Italian hospitality with plenty of good food and wine.”
To top off the multi-cultural theme, the speeches were given in three languages. “My parents spoke in Chinese and in English, whereas Marco and his best man spoke in Italian and English,” smiles Kei.
The couple honeymooned in Sicily and have plans to go to the Caribbean.

Kei’s magical gown with flowing train was from Mia Sposa London. “As soon as I put on the dress, I fell in love,” she says.
The couple enlisted a church choir to set the mood of their ceremony.
Kei praised their photographer, saying she knew well in advance they would choose Michela Zucchini Photo Art Studio for their special day.
Kei also had a Chinese dress for a traditional part of their wedding day. She had it custom-made in China.
