The coming together of family and friends helped to create something special at Annie and Xander’s laidback Scottish wedding.
The Edinburgh pair, who first met at university, wed at St Mary’s, Pathhead, by their family priest on May 27, 2017.
“We asked our mums to do the flowers for the church and tables, and lots of people pitched in
the day before to get them set up,” Annie, 29, says.
She and Xander, 35, held their traditional ceremony in front of 85 guests before 110 family and friends joined in the evening celebrations at The Coach House, Colstoun.
A traditional feast was served and, of course, it wouldn’t be a wedding in Scotland
without a bit of ceilidh dancing.
Annie says many hands made light work to create their laidback Scottish wedding.
“The day was so personal, from the flowers, the tartan of Xander’s kilt, the decorations, and spending the day with everyone we love,” she says.
“It wouldn’t have happened without everyone contributing, it made it so beautiful and special.”

Annie matched her lace gown with a veil from Emma Roy of Edinburgh and shoes from Rachel Simpson.
Annie says Xander’s kilt was made at very short notice by 21st Century Kilts.
“We met at uni during fresher’s fair, when Xander persuaded me to join the film-making society,” Annie explains. “Xander proposed while we were on a walk in Comrie, by a waterfall, very sappy.”
The bride’s talented cousin helped to create more than 80 origami crane name card holders, while old roof tiles served as the table names, with the film buffs giving their tables a Hollywood theme.
