Laura Johnson and Scott Knowles were practically neighbours but it was online dating that brought them together.
“We met online in 2012 but actually lived five minutes away from each other,” explains Laura, 34, of Scott, 32. “After two years of dating Scott proposed on a weekend break to Wales.”
The pair opted for an elegant wedding on October 10, 2015 at All Saints Church Paston, Peterborough, followed by a reception at Orton Hall. Seventy guests attended their ceremony, and 85 celebrated into the night.
Laura embraced some DIY wedding styling for several elements of the day – including her own garter and party favours. “I made all the sweet bags myself and we filled them with our favourite sweets,” explains the bride. “One of the first conversations we had was about our mutual love of sweets which is why they had to be part of the theme.”
Laura says the day was the perfect mix of tradition and fun. “Scott’s best man was his best friend of six years, James, who had everyone in fits of laughter during his speech when he told of our mutual love of Eddie Stobart trucks.”
The couple honeymooned in The United States.

Laura turned to her hairdresser of 10 years for her classic do.
A double-decker bus transported the guests between venues.
Laura says Tom Calton’s photography was exactly what the couple were after, “blending in” with guests and achieving “amazing” impromptu and formal shots.
Hidden underneath the bride’s stunning gown were shoes from Rachel Simpson.
The pair’s mutual love of sweets was represented at the reception.
