Sarah Wakefield has only one suggestion for how her vintage wedding to beau Peter Egerton could have been better.
“Stop the clock!”
Sarah, 30, says if she could do it all again, she’d absolutely take her time walking down the aisle. Even so, “it was the most amazing, magical day of our lives,” she smiles.
The pair, who call Derbyshire home, met in 2011 and the chemistry was instant. Whilst attending a friend’s wedding in York, Peter, 34, took the opportunity to make wedding plans of his own.
“We stayed at the Royal Hotel with a beautiful view overlooking the gardens,” Sarah recalls. “There was a dozen red roses and a beautiful card waiting for me in the room – Pete had never bought flowers!” They went on a walk through the gardens and stopped at the fountain to make a wish. “As I got some change out of my bag and turned to give it to Pete, he was on the floor on one knee with a ring!”
Sarah and Peter wed before 85 guests at the Old Glossop Parish Church on May 30, 2015 followed by a reception for 150 at Mere Court Hotel.
Perfect Wed helped decorate the venue in fine style, while Sarah bought vintage trays, cups-and-saucers, birdcages and beads to add an old-world touch. “The venue looked absolutely stunning,” Sarah recalls. “The food was amazing, drinks were flowing, speeches went well and we had a band that rocked.”

Sarah paired her gorgeous embellished gown with accessories by Jon Richards from Debenhams.
Peter and his groomsmen wore classic three-piece suits from Slaters, with ties made to match the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Five-piece band, Wednesday Club, got the dance floor pumping.
