“All those years you search for the person and you’re never really sure if you’ll ever find them or if they truly exist.”
Sophie Barden realised that person does in fact exist, when she met her future husband Scott Barron on a night out in 2010. The Orpington couple married at their classic garden wedding on a summer’s day; June 3, 2016. The 110 guests, who had travelled from as far as New Zealand to the Preston-based wedding, were the focus of the bride and groom’s day.
The couple, aged 26 and 28 respectively, pulled out all the stops to make sure their loved ones had a good time. “The guests were our main concern, getting the guest list right was key to us as with the right people you can have a party anywhere,” explains Sophie. “The sum up our day I would say it was filled with love, laughter, Jager bombs and dance offs.”
Guests were treated to chocolate boxes as favours, made by the bride’s uncle who owns a confectionery company. “The evening food was a fish and chip van we found online … they served mini fish and chips with all the trimmings including mushy peas,” says the bride. For desert, a naked three-tiered sponge cake took front and centre, flavoured salted caramel and toffee cream, chocolate with white chocolate ganache and Madeira sponge with milk chocolate ganache.

“I had straps added as I wanted it to look soft and romantic for the ceremony,” Sophie says of her wedding dress.
” I found a poem called The Perfect Man by Bob Marley that sums up my love for Scott,” smiles the bride.
Sophie wore her hair up as she knew that was what Scott preferred. But she let her hair down – literally – at the reception!
The couple’s three-year-old son was a primary focus on their day.
