Sarah Robson and Simon Onions added a touch of Scotland to their English wedding.
“We wanted an English country wedding, with a Scottish twist, as half my family are Scottish, and I spent a lot of time there as a child,” Sarah, 37, says.
“We wanted sentiment throughout the day, our boxer Darcey was our ring bearer and my horse Pepe even made an appearance outside the church. The bouquets and button holes had Eryngium thistles as the main flower to represent my Scottish heritage, and my father, brother and uncles wore kilts.”
Sarah and Simon, 44, wed on June 10, 2016 at Haselor Church in their hometown of Stratford upon Avon. “I wanted to get married somewhere I could return to regularly,” the bride says.
Celebrations continued for the couple and their 120 guests at Birtsmorton Court, Worcestershire. “It had history, seclusion, dramatic effect and English country charm all wrapped into one,” Sarah says.
Blue, yellow and white blooms adorned the elegant venue, which was lit up with fairy lights as the night progressed.
“Our wedding was the best and will always be the best wedding I’ve ever been to,” the bride says. “It had a bit of everything, but most of all, it had everything we wanted as a couple.”

“This was the first dress I tried on, and I loved it, but felt it was too different and dramatic,” Sarah says of her gown from Suzanne Neville. “It took eight more shops, and umpteen more dress fittings, to draw me back to it.”
The couple met when Simon, a recruitment consultant, placed Sarah in her current role as a chartered surveyor. Simon proposed eight years later.
“Simon and I have the most fun relationship, I love how he embraces everything we do, and is willing to try anything once… I love our life together, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Sarah says.
Simon went with a traditional three-piece suit from Slaters for the elegant celebrations.
