It’s not always easy to find a wedding venue that ticks all the boxes – but Rachel Morris and Aaron Shang found ‘the one’ in The William Cecil, Stamford.
“We knew we wanted our wedding to take place somewhere that had a nice outdoor space that guests could relax in on a nice summers evening, as well as a spacious room that could contain all our guests,” explains 28-year-old bride Rachel. “We also wanted to be in a hotel so people could stay over and not worry about getting back somewhere at the end of the night.”
The William Cecil met all of her and Aaron’s needs and superseded expectations, according to the couple. “They really wanted to get to know us and make our day as special and as personalised to us as they could,” says Rachel – who also did plenty of personalising herself. Her sister designed all of the couple’s stationery, and there were loads of personal touches at the ceremony and reception. “Our tables were named after appropriate names of Friends episodes! Just another way we personalised our day,” explains Rachel.
Rachel and Aaron, 30, married on the morning of July 25, 2015 in the presence of 95 guests. “I loved that we were able to unwind with some of our guests after the day rather than everyone just disappearing off,” Rachel says of the choice to have guests stay at the hotel.

The two teachers were engaged on their third anniversary at Disneyland Paris and then took 18 months to plan for a summer wedding.
Rachel found her beautifully detailed gown with illusion neckline at Sincerity Bridal.
“He can always make me laugh and cheer me up no matter how bad I feel,” says Rachel of Aaron, 30.
Guests each received a Krispy Kreme doughnut in a personalised box. “Everyone loved having a snack to eat, and loved that the box had their name on it,” says Rachel.
