Heather and Joe first met off the East Coast of Tanzania. With Joe’s background working as a doctor in a local hospital for charity project Health Improvement Zanzibar and Heather volunteering as a teacher for local children in an international school, it was a match made in heaven.
The pair hit it off straight away, with Dubai-resident Heather joining Joe in Sheffield after six months of long-distance.
After a romantic proposal in Cyprus, Heather’s birthplace, the 28-year-old pair got to planning their vintage boho wedding, agreeing they wanted something a bit different with natural elements and a magical woodland theme.
On August 24, 2018 Heather and Joe exchanged vows before 80 of their closest family and friends from all over the world including Dubai, France, Canada and the UK. Even an owl took part, delivering the couple their rings at the ceremony.
The party continued at The Treehouse at Alnwick Gardens in Northumberland, where guests loved exploring the many different rooms joined together by rope bridges.
“We placed fairy lights everywhere with special uplighting for the trees, creating the perfect magical ambience to dance the night away,” says the bride. “It was like being in our own fairy tale.”

“We selected dusky pinks to complement the natural rustic charm of the setting,” says Heather.
“We had our first kiss under a shooting star,” recall the Holmfirth couple.
Heather purchased her gown from Emily Bridalwear, wearing it elegantly with 60-year-old gold pearl earrings gifted by Heather’s Grandmother who sadly couldn’t attend the festivities.
Heather and Joe spent the night before and after the wedding at Doxford Hall.
