Nicki and Ashley keep it chilled with relaxed wedding

Nicola Dennett and Ashley Higgins didn’t exactly hit it off when they first met.

The couple, both 35, met through a mutual friend in Manchester on Bonfire Night. As Nicola went to leave, Ashley said to her, “It was nice meeting you Nicki, I hope I never have to speak to you again.”

“I think he thought I had too much attitude,” Nicki laughs. “It was really too much cider.”

But despite the rocky start, Ashley was intrigued, got Nicki’s number and asked her on a date.

The Sandbach, Cheshire pair held a relaxed wedding on April 18, 2015, however, they had already “done the formal bit” the day before at Residence Nantwich in front of their closest family and friends.

“We could enjoy the day with less pressure and loved catching up with friends who had come from far and wide. It was very relaxed,” Nicki says.

The couple chose the Yellow Broom in Cheshire for their bigger celebrations, with 50 daytime 90 evening guests. The bride says the laid-back choice of venue was perfect.

“From start to finish we had a ball,” Nicki says.

“We loved every minute and wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Nicki wore a gorgeous floor-length gown from Eliza Jane Howell.

Marks and Spencer supplied the wedding cake, which was decorated by glass butterflies that Nicki’s mum had handmade.
