When it came to Lucy and Lee’s country wedding, priorities lay with having a relaxed occasion full of family, friends and fun.
“We are quite laid back and wanted our wedding to reflect that,” says the bride. “Our main focus was the people who would be attending. We wanted to make sure they felt comfortable enough to have fun and be natural rather than worry about the ‘rules’ of a wedding.”
On March 31, 2018 the Chepstow couple, both 30, tied the knot witnessed by 78 guests at St Tewdrics Church in Mathern. Celebrations then continued into the night, taking place beneath a magical marquee out the front of Mathern Place.
The wedding decor consisted of flowers, greenery and shabby-chic furnishings.
“We had hessian runners on the tables with white lace edging and for centrepieces we cut different sized log circles and had vases filled with spring flowers. We planted bulbs to grow our own table flowers but due to the snow and cold weather in the months leading up to the wedding, we had to ask a florist to help last-minute.”
To honour the pair’s love for travel, a world map acted as the table plan with tables named after countries the pair visited together.

Lee and his crew donned three-piece navy check suits complete with white shirts and pink paisley ties from Slaters.
The ceremony was officiated by a friend of the groom. “He made everyone relaxed and really set the tone for a day filled with love and laughter.”

“It took ages to find the bridesmaid dresses as every time we went shopping we stopped for coffee and lunch,” laughs Lucy.
